It’s been an exciting week at Raven Creative! We’ve been selected to participate in FedEx’s Small Business Grant Contest, and could potentially receive up to $25,000 to help grow our company.
Why are we participating?
After the birth of my daughter, Dylan, I knew that going back to my full-time corporate job wasn’t the best option for our family. Business ownership — on my terms — was the right path. I had a big dream of being able to be present and nurture my growing family while continuing to pursue my career.
Now that I’ve been able to make that a reality for myself, I want to inspire other women (and men!) to shape their own career paths after starting a family; to make “having it all” a reality.
What will I do with the grant money?
Central to my vision of creating a flexible, family-first workplace, I’d use the FedEx grant money to hire an employee.
I believe there is a major untapped resource in the workforce — men and women who started families (or plan to) and are faced with the unsavory choice of all or nothing. These people have so much to offer professionally and I want to create a business where they can continue to thrive, without feeling like they’re sacrificing their families to get there.
